About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and driven VP of Engineering to will lead our efforts in growing our bikesharing software platform. JUMP seeks professionals who are passionate about making the world a better place to live, by delivering an amazing customer experience through a refined product enabled by sophisticated technology. An ideal candidate is a proven tech team leader with a record of building highly scalable, 24/7 available web applications and services. This role requires someone enthusiastic about building a world class engineering organization capable of rapid innovation while maintaining a high engineering bar.

 

Responsibilities

This role will manage several development teams, focused on scaling and improving our bike share application and the fleet management system that powers it. This individual will be responsible for defining vision, driving team execution, as well as overseeing architecture and engineering process. This will require strong leadership abilities, as well as the ability and desire to jump in and participate, to ensure alignment across technology, product and business stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • This role will manage several software development teams, focused on scaling and improving our bike share application and the fleet management system that powers it.
  • This individual will be responsible for defining vision, driving team execution, as well as overseeing software architecture and engineering process. This will require strong leadership abilities, as well as the ability and desire to jump in and participate, to ensure alignment across technology, product and business stakeholders.
  • This leader will collaborate with our executive team (NYC) to translate the business priorities of the company into a technical agenda.
  • Lead architecture discussions and create clear decision-making processes.
  • Define and implement engineering KPIs as well as build the tools to implement cross-team KPIs.
  • Establish and maintain a high engineering bar with a rigorous yet adaptable development strategies.
  • Lead and assist with the recruitment of highly motivated and highly skilled technology talent.
  • Travel to remote offices (both development and operations) to manage and collaborate. Estimated yearly travel: 10-20% of time.

Requirements

Experience and Skills

  • 7+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience.
  • 15+ years of Software Engineering experience.
  • Experience managing remote teams.
  • Experience building teams and process in multiple locations.
  • Experience in building high-availability, scalable solutions which interact with millions of users a day.
  • Experience with cloud-based, microservice-oriented architecture.
  • Experience in working on products with both software and hardware components.
  • Strong people management skills, proven success in recruiting, creating and motivating a strong performing engineering team.
  • Interest in cycling and urban transportation preferred.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science preferred.
